I’m still going! The challenge today was a hard one. I had to draw 20 of a body part I struggle to draw. That’s a lot, but that’s not all: I also had to make 5 of those 20 anatomical/muscular studies!
I started by dividing my canvas into 20 blocks to contain each body part. Then I stopped and had to think, what body part do I draw? I find I struggle with noses, so I set out to draw twenty of them.
I drew a couple with no reference to start off and to use as a base line for how far my skills improved by the end of the challenge. I also drew some from my imagination because I didn’t want to put the full effort in of studying a photo, to be perfectly honest.
You might notice some anatomical diagrams. For the nose, they’re surprisingly hard to find! Also, they were extremely tedious to draw. I did not enjoy this part of today’s challenge and I really had to force myself to get all five of them in there.
The final nose is drawn with no reference, as hopefully an example of a well drawn nose now that I have all this practice. I’m not completely satisfied with my new skill level, but that just means I have room to grow. But I did notice improvement from this one compared to the very first one!
