Inktober Prompts 8-14

I’m almost caught up now! Only two prompts behind, as I write this. I’m confident I’ll catch up and demolish this challenge now!

#8 Toad

This prompt felt pretty straightforward, and I happened to already have a photo of a toad that I took myself! I found this tiny little toad on the sidewalk and helped it to the safety of the grass nearby – while stopping to take a picture first, of course.

#9 Bounce

I specifically wanted to find an image of an old trampoline for this prompt, simply because it prompted the most nostalgia for me. I think it suits the prompt of ‘bounce’ quite nicely.

#10 Fortune

I had one thought and one thought only for this prompt: tarot cards. I don’t really believe that they can accurately predict anything, but I do find the idea of tarot to be fascinating, and it’s the same kind of fun as I get from doing Buzzfeed quizzes. That being said, I wanted to depict some of the most iconic tarot cards for this drawing. If anyone can tell me what my random choices might mean, I’d be very curious to know!

#11 Wander

This image was made with a combination of references, one for the setting and one for the figure. My first thought for this prompt was this image, and I think I pulled it off.

#12 Spicy

Now, this prompt was a bit of a struggle. I did lots of research trying to figure out what kind of “spicy” image to draw, from chilli peppers to boudoir photoshoots, before finally settling on this rude pumpkin-head in lingerie. It felt like a reasonably spicy image that I was comfortable drawing.

#13 Rise

I managed to fit in some Zelda fan art! This is an image from the latest game, Tears of the Kingdom, of which I’m a huge fan. Items can be fused together to make whatever you can imagine, and in this case, that’s a hot air balloon that fully works!

#14 Castle

The final prompt of this week was “castle”, but I didn’t want to draw a typical castle. That felt too obvious. So here instead is a lovely sand castle on a beach.

I had a much easier time with this series of drawings than with the previous week. I think that’s because I’m gradually getting into the flow of it, and shaking off the rust, and all that sort of thing.

I’m looking forward to continuing this challenge and creating more inky artwork! See you next week!
