Happy Halloween, dear reader! Alas, I’m still behind on the prompts, but here at least is the third week of ink drawings!
Interestingly, every single one of the drawings this week are some form of fan art. I decided to draw upon my interests for inspiration, and I think I got some cool results.
#15 Dagger

Initially, I was trying to draw my Eldin Ring character because they dual-wield daggers, but then I had the idea to draw Astarion from Baldur’s Gate 3. I really enjoy that game; it feels a lot like if Dungeons & Dragons was a video game. Astarion is one of the characters who joins your party, and as a rogue his iconic weapon is a dagger.
#16 Angel

Another one of my nerdy interests is Magic The Gathering. This goth angel is one of the most famous ones in the game, and she’s even featured on the play-mat I use! Her name is Avacyn, and she’s sort of a protector of humans within the lore on her home plane of Innistrad.
#17 Demon

This one is another character from Magic The Gathering, this time from the New Capenna set. This is Jetmir, the Cat Demon who is the leader of the Cabaretti family. He’s kind of a mob boss, with a very ostentatious and elaborate outfit. This was the first prompt where I had reference images (to get the details right) but I came up with my own composition, so it’s not just a recreated photo. I think it turned out really good because of this!
#18 Saddle

I decided to come back to Eldin Ring for this prompt. Your horse in the game is Torrent, who I drew with my character sitting at a campfire. Torrent is referred to as a horse, but he also has some goat-like qualities such as the horns and small stature, and he’s very cute.
#19 Plump

You might recognize this image, because it’s the image used for Rocky Horror Picture Show. It took me a while to get the tones right, since I’m using just black and white for this challenge and the lips are bright red. I considered including the text like I did for the Fleetwood Mac drawing, but decided it would look better if I left it without.
#20 Frost

This prompt wasn’t my favourite, because I got stuck for quite a while trying to draw frost on a window, which is really hard to draw without it looking like just scribbles. Then my partner had the excellent suggestion to draw the spell Ray of Frost from Dungeons & Dragons, so that’s what I ended up drawing. I think it’s a much more compelling image!
#21 Chains

Here’s another Dungeons & Dragons inspired drawing. The prompt “chains” made me immediately think of Descent Into Avernus and the strong image of the city being pulled down into hell by massive chains. I was partly inspired by another artist’s drawing of the same concept, specifically Nathan in this Drawfee video.
And with that, I conclude my third week of Inktober! I’m going to see how far I can get on the remaining prompts today, and hopefully I’ll be able to post the rest very soon, but I’d like to acknowledge the fact that I’m not finishing the challenge by the end of October. Which is okay. Because I’m still going to finish the challenge.
