Lately, I’ve been drawing collections of strange creatures. No particular reason, no goal, but it’s been pretty fun coming up with all the different designs I can think of.

I’ve thought about going back and adding colour, but haven’t done anything like that yet. For now, they’re all just black ink on white backgrounds. With each sheet of creatures, I’ve noticed a marked improvement over the last. With the first one, I was pretty messy and unfocused with my designs, leaving them rough and much more unfinished looking. Then I started slowing down and paying attention to detail more, and with the latest one, I actually stopped to take time to add some texture details and fix things I wasn’t happy with the first go around.
