I’ve Been Missing Spring

I’ve been missing the bright sunshine and flowers of springtime, with the dreary cold snow we’ve been dealing with lately, so I decided to make a painting that evokes that late-spring warmth.

I’m really happy with how it turned out! It’s not the most realistic, per se, because I didn’t use any references for anything, but I really like the vibe I managed to capture. It definitely feels happy and bright and calm, and the foreground flowers are my favourite part.

I used Clip Studio to do the whole thing, as is my usual method. I don’t know exactly how long it took, but it was several hours in one evening, in a couple different painting sessions. Then the only other thing I did was to use a photo filter in Google Photos to brighten up the colours a bit.

I actually put up the process on YouTube, if you want to see how it came together! I haven’t made a video in a very long time, so I don’t have the best video editing skills, but I thought it would be cool to share the process video since Clip Studio automatically records it for me. You can watch it here, or right below in this post.
